Data Science
Outreach Team Lead,
Data Science Committee
Position Description:
– Outreach to individuals for both Big Data Challenges (ex. Judges, Sponsors, Mentors)
– Experience with communications/administrative work
– Work is done primarily using google docs/sheets/forms/email
Time Commitment: 2 hours/week (on a regular basis)
Research Exploration Opportunity Coordinator
Position
The Research Exploration Opportunity (REO) is a program to help high school students place in research labs during.
Coordinator responsibilities include supporting branches in implementation of the program, liaising between branches and the team to ensure they are completing tasks in a timely manner.
REO Coordinators may also be involved in outreach initiatives.
Time Commitment: 2-3 hours/week
Additional Qualifications: Having familiarity with the research environment in university/remote labs is an asset, but not required.
High School Chapters
Chapter Head
Position Description: High School Chapter Heads are responsible for running a AstroConvos chapter in their high school. Responsibilities of Chapter Heads include, running and planning club events, recruiting an executive team, promoting AstroConvos events. Applicants must demonstrate commitment in their role as a Chapter Head and must regularly attend meetings with their assigned regional leads if they wish to continue their role.
Additional Qualifications: Previous experience running a club is preferred but not required.
Time Commitment: 3 hours/week
High School Chapters Regional Lead
Position Description: Regional leads are the primary mode of support provided to Chapter Heads who run AstroConvos chapters in their high schools. Responsibilities include, setting up and leading biweekly meetings with a group of approximately 3-5 chapter heads, along with aiding Chapter Heads in event planning, and troubleshooting. Regional leads must be committed to routinely keeping in touch with and tracking the progress of Chapter Heads in running their club and attending meetings with the rest of the Chapters Team.
Additional Qualifications: Previous experience running a club is preferred but not required.
Time Commitment: 3 hours/week
Partnerships and Sponsorships
English to Native language translator
Position Description: Translators use effective bilingual, multimedia communication skills to translate various projects on an on-call basis.
Job responsibilities will include creating original French translations from English AstroConvos source documents and verifying grammar in existing Native language translations. On occasion, translators will also record Native language vocal excerpts and interpret discussions between AstroConvos members and Native communities.
Additional Qualifications: Native language level: B2 or higher
Time Commitment: 1 hour/week (on-call position; depends on workload)

Content Development Team Member
Position Description: The role of a Content Development Team Member is to assist in writing press releases and organizational reports, creating the monthly STEM Fellowship Newsletter, and drafting and editing template emails to promote events and form partnerships.
Time Commitment: 2-3 hours/week
